The ‘Venite, benedicte...’ is in Latin, despite appearances in the smaller colour picture which seems to show the word “of”. Donne’s ‘numberless infinities’ would be a tall order for any painter, but ET Long could count more than 80 figures here ‘and probably another score have been lost’.
